John Francis Fleming was born in 1910 and grew up in New York City. He got his start in the book business when he was fifteen as a clerk for the renowned “Napoleon of Books,” A. S. W. Rosenbach. Rosenbach was Fleming’s patron and mentor. Fleming worked his way up in Rosenbach’s company, ascending from clerk to manager to vice president.

Saudi-born Dr Walid Juffali (1955-2016) made an indelible mark on the global stage. From one of the wealthiest business families in Saudi Arabia, he was educated at Le Rosey in Switzerland, the US – at the University of San Diego – and then, after settling in London, he received a doctorate in neuroscience at Imperial College, London. From 2005, Juffali was chairman of his family’s company, E.A. Juffali Brothers, one of the largest companies in Saudi Arabia for telecommunications, infrastructure and insurance. Juffali’s personal fortune was considered to be $8 billion.

The collection of paintings, antiques, sculptures and objets d’art belonging to the late Walid Juffali, the Saudi billionaire at Bishopsgate House, his estate in Surrey, UK. The sale comprised of over 400 lots.
